What I’ve learned about specialty incentives:

Since tax laws change almost annually, keeping up-to-date with both federal and state regulations is the precursor of providing excellent client service. Clients should take advantage of cost segregation / bonus deprecation whenever possible. Having the ability to decrease taxable income and increase cash flow to expand and reinvest in your firm is tax planning at its best!

What surprised me the most about my field:

The amount of tax planning and strategizing necessary to optimize and reduce our client’s tax obligations. This isn’t about providing a particular service once. It’s about understanding their business model, economic goals, and providing an all-inclusive solution via specialty tax incentives.
