Perspectives
What I’ve learned about corporate tax:
In professional services, it comes down to knowing your client. A close relationship, understanding their thinking, their goals, and working as if you were part of their team, that is what putting the client first really looks like.
What has surprised you the most about working on transfer pricing?
How different each client is, even within the same industry. Two companies can look almost identical on paper, same intercompany structure, same type of transaction, and still need a completely different approach once you look at how they actually run day to day. There is also more room for interpretation and judgment in the regulations, so a lot of the work comes down to building a position that genuinely reflects how the business operates.
My greatest strengths are:
I care about getting it right for each client, not just getting it done, since every company has its own story and needs its own treatment. I also rely a lot on common sense in TP: stepping back from the details to see the big picture, making sure the documentation reflects economic reality, and putting myself in the client’s shoes to understand how they think.
